Overview

Synopsis

Adapted from the Biblical book of Exodus, The Prince of Egypt follows Moses, who begins life as a Hebrew baby set adrift on the Nile by his mother, Yocheved, to escape genocide. After being rescued and adopted by the Queen of Egypt, he grows up in a privileged life in the Egyptian court. However, Moses cannot escape his ultimate destiny. Upon discovering his true heritage, Moses embarks on a mission to lead the Hebrew people out of slavery, which pits him against his brother, Ramses, the new Pharaoh of Egypt. With a heavy heart, Moses sends a series of plagues into Egypt in an effort to persuade Ramses to grant the Hebrews their freedom. But it is a heavy cost to pay. Both men must be broken in order to heal and face their separate destinies.
