Cylindrus is Erotium’s cook. He is sent out to purchase food for Menaechmus of Epidamnus and Peniculus, and on the way meets Menaechmus Sosicles. He is the first person in Epidamnus to confuse Sosicles for his brother, and ignites Messenio’s (Sosicles’ servant) paranoia
