Edna Ferber was an American novelist and playwright. Her best known novels include So Big (which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1925), Show Boat (1926; the basis for the 1927 musical of the same name), and Cinnamon (1930). She also collaborated with George S. Kaufman on a number of plays, including The Royal Family (1927), Dinner at Eight (1932), and Stage Door (1936).
